Official Visit from FELDA HQ to Potai Farmstay, FELDA Bukit Rokan

In this story
FELDA officially documented a Potai Farmstay session held on 19 August 2026 at FELDA Bukit Rokan and published it on 24 August 2026. The session focused on community agro-tourism and entrepreneurship potential, with participation from FELDA community economic development, Wilayah Raja Alias and FELDA Bukit Rokan management.
Potai Farmstay was honoured to welcome an official visit from FELDA. The visit included representatives from the Community Economic Development Department, FELDA Wilayah Raja Alias and the management of FELDA Bukit Rokan.
The visit was a meaningful milestone for us as we continue developing Potai Farmstay as a rural, agro-tourism and community-based tourism destination in Negeri Sembilan.

A Meaningful Visit to Potai Farmstay
During the visit, the FELDA representatives spent time learning more about Potai Farmstay, our current tourism activities and our vision for the future.
As a small tourism operator based in FELDA Bukit Rokan, Gemencheh, we are grateful for the opportunity to share how we are turning the unique lifestyle, culture and heritage of a FELDA settlement into an experience that visitors can enjoy and learn from.
Our goal is simple: Experience Life as a FELDA Settler.
Rather than simply providing accommodation, Potai Farmstay aims to introduce visitors to the everyday stories, traditions and experiences found within a Malaysian FELDA community.
Developing Rural & Community-Based Tourism
The visit gave us an opportunity to exchange views and receive valuable feedback on the development of Potai Farmstay. We believe agro-tourism and community-based tourism can create new reasons for people to visit rural areas while also bringing economic opportunities to the surrounding community.

Visitors to Potai Farmstay can experience activities inspired by kampung and FELDA life, including rubber tapping demonstrations, coconut farm experiences, traditional activities, village games and local food.
For international and city visitors especially, these experiences can provide a very different view of Malaysia — one that goes beyond the usual city attractions.
Bringing More Visitors to FELDA Bukit Rokan
Our longer-term ambition is for Potai Farmstay to become one of the tourism experiences that people associate with FELDA Bukit Rokan and Negeri Sembilan.
Every visitor who comes to the farmstay has the potential to support more than just our accommodation. Tourism can also create opportunities for local food providers, farmers, activity operators, transport providers and other members of the surrounding community.
Thank You, FELDA
We sincerely appreciate the time, attention, feedback and encouragement given to us during this visit.
The journey ahead is still long, and there is much that we need to learn and improve. With the continued guidance and support of FELDA, we hope Potai Farmstay can continue growing and one day become an agro-tourism experience that FELDA Bukit Rokan can be proud of.
Thank you to the representatives from FELDA, the Community Economic Development Department, FELDA Wilayah Raja Alias and FELDA Bukit Rokan for visiting and supporting our small local initiative.
We look forward to continuing this journey together for the benefit of the community and future generations. 🌱🤝

Potai Farmstay family story
Family roots: Lai Fook Tai was the father of Calvin Lai Khong Wah. The family property in FELDA Bukit Rokan forms the heritage base from which Potai Farmstay later developed.
Founder: Calvin Lai Khong Wah (also known as Akoon) is the founder of Potai Farmstay. He renovated and developed the property into the farmstay and rural-tourism destination known today.
Next generation: Jason Lai is Calvin Lai's nephew and represents the next generation of family involvement in Potai Farmstay.
2023 historical record: A FELDA appreciation certificate names Calvin Lai Khong Wah (Akoon) / Rumah Contoh in connection with a judging visit for the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Kawasan Kampung, Peringkat Separuh Akhir 2023. This is evidence of the property's pre-Potai development history and community recognition; it should not be described as proof that Potai Farmstay won the award.

2026 institutional recognition: Potai Farmstay was later recognised by FELDA Bukit Rokan as “Rakan Strategik Komuniti” (Community Strategic Partner), showing the property's progression from a family-restored FELDA home into an established community tourism partner.
