01 / Three generations. One kampung.
The Beginning
It began with Lai Fook Tai — our grandfather — who built his life on this land in Felda Bukit Rokan, Gemencheh. A traditional timber house raised on stilts, a wood-fired stove, a hand-dug well, and fields tended by hand. He raised his family the way generations of Negeri Sembilan villagers had before him: close to the earth, rich in community, unhurried. The old house still stands today, weathered and honest, at the heart of everything we do.

Calvin Lai Reimagines It
My uncle, Calvin Lai, couldn't let that happen. Taking up his father's legacy, Calvin transformed the family kampung into Potai Farmstay — not by paving over its past, but by opening it up. He preserved the heritage his father built and enhanced it into something guests could step into and share. What was once one family's way of life became a doorway for others to rediscover it.

Carrying It Forward
Today, Potai Farmstay carries that spirit forward. When you tap a rubber tree, sit down to charcoal-grilled standing chicken, or watch a Minangkabau performance under the open sky, you're not visiting an attraction — you're stepping into a real family home that three generations have kept alive. We built this to share it with you.
